Rules of Book Borrowing for International Students


1. At the beginning of each academic year, the access to library and permission to book borrowing of the “Campus Card” of international students will be activated according to the list of international students provided by the School of Education of the university.

2. International students whose “Campus Cards” have been granted the access to library and permission to book borrowing are entitled to borrow books as regular students at the university, and the rules for book borrowing is as follows. Undergraduate international students may borrow 5 Chinese books a time, and postgraduate international students may borrow 15 Chinese books for 60 days, which can be renewed once. In addition, each international student is allowed to borrow 2 foreign language books (irrespective of undergraduate or postgraduate students) for a period of 30 days. International students shall abide by the library lending management regulations and return the borrowed books on time.

3. All international students shall abide by the rules and regulations of the library (please refer to the relevant provisions of the Rules and Regulations on the library website for details) and strive to create and maintain a good environment for resource utilization in a common effort with librarians and other readers.

4. After the time for international students to study abroad expires, the book borrowing function of their “Campus Cards will be automatically terminated. International students shall return all books borrowed from the library before leaving the university, and the School of International Education shall not finish the school-leaving procedures for them until they receive the notice from the library confirming the return of all borrowed books.



Personal Account Management of My Library



Log in to your personal account:

Method 1: Library Home Page - Library Bibliographic Retrieval - Search - My Library or Login as Reader (upper right corner)

Method 2: Library Home Page - Common Services - My Library.

Enter the Campus Card number or student number on the login page. The initial password is the last six digits of student’s ID card (if the last digit of the ID card is X, X needs to be capitalized). Enter “My Library”.

Book renewal service:

The book lending period is 60 days. If you haven't finished reading the books before the expiration date, you can log in to “My Library, click “Renew Books, and tick the books to be renewed. The renewal period is 30 days, counting from the date of renewal.


 

Methods of Borrowing Paper Books



The books collected in our library are mainly classified and arranged according to the Chinese Library Classification, and some books, that is, the books classified and compiled by Shouyi Library before 1995, are classified and arranged according to the Classification for Library of the People's University of China (pure digital call number). The call number consists of classification number and order number.

Paper books can be queried through the bibliographic retrieval system.

We can search the call number and book location based on the title, author or key words, and locate the book accordingly. For example, to locate the Legal Culture of the West by Liu Xing, 

 



You should search for books that are available for borrowing and “currently stored in the library” and record the call number and “book location”. Then, you will find the book in the corresponding reading room.

Readers may also enter My Library through the bibliographic retrieval system to renew thier borrowed books.

“My Library” user registration: Unregistered readers may register with the campus card number or student number. The initial password is the last six digits of student’s ID card (if the last digit of the ID card is X, X needs to be capitalized).

Book renewal: Log in to My Library, click “Borrowed Books, find the book to be renewed, and click Renew to renew the lending period for 30 days from the date of renewal. Books can be renewed 10 days before they are due.

Tips: A self-service enquiry machine is provided in the hall of the library, and online public access catalog can also be searched on smart devices such as mobile phones through the library's WeChat official account.
